You saved money going with the older car, so there's a gain. They're are about the same hp, and you can make the prelude really move. You can with the accord too though, but that accord would cost more than the prelude you got. The honda prelude was honda's sports car for a while, so it has the edge from a performance stand-point (stock anyways). That accord isn't that far behind at all though. As long as it's a honda, you're in good shape

Idunno bout the Accord EX V6 being not that far behind? I know it may have relatively the same horsepower, however the prelude comes in a stick whereas the accord is only availabe in auto. Also preludes are much lighter. the accords would prolly have nothing on a prelude. Looks wise i hate the front of my prelude its way too long and i wish i could jus take the front of the 92-96 prelude and attach it to the back of my prelude (97-01) n i'd be happy with that.

Oh wow, I thought that generation did offer a stick in the ex v6. Well if it only has a slush box, prelude wins hands down.

I'm trying to find a 92-96 prelude. There was one around here that needed a ton of body work for $750, but it was automatic so I had to pass it up.

Yeah i've only had accords so the preludes unprecedented for me. i jus got rid of my 97 accord se...bought it for $5500 last summer n sold it for $6200 the other day n wanted a 5spd honda. i paid $6600 for a 97 prelude sh in pretty good condition with 130k miles. its 200 bucks under kbb but it needs new tires. think i got a good deal??

That doesn't sound like a bad price. How does it run? Check the 5th gear shift. They can grind going into 5th. Very fun car to drive. You can really push them in the corners. When was the t-belt last done? Also find out if the auto tensioner was updated when it had its first t-belt. Soem good sites for info on your model car are: preludeonline.com, preludepower.com and I am part of OHPOC.org(Ohio Honda Prelude Owners Community) Also depending on where you live National Prelude Meet 06 is comming up June 8-11 in St. Louis Check out NPM06.com

1997 Prelude SH weighed in at 3042. The lightest 6th gen accord coupe is the 1998 LX-V6 coupe at 3197lbs. By 2002 the LX had gained nearly 40lbs.

Prelude came with 195HP and 5spd manual and has a 0-60 time of 7sec where as the accord comes in at 7.4 sec.

Accord will most likely be cheaper on insurance rates depending upon your age.

Manual has one weakness: shifing consistancy depends solely upon driver

Accord V6 and to a lesser extent, the I4 auto transmissions have serious reliability problems....it would seem based upon various forums that the average life of these transmissions is somewhere around 70-90k in the V6 cars and it is EXTREMELY RARE that these transmissions will last the life of the car.

Actually i think the prelude could do 0-60 in 6.6 sec. but yeah i suckkk at drivin a stick n i get my prelude friday so hopefully i wont kill the new clutch too bad. Me gettin this prelude is sure as heck gettin my bro kinda jealous since hes got an 05 gti turbo 5spd with 180hp n thinks my prelude may be quicker.

200 lbs less along with 5 less hp will not get you .8 sec below an accord
