Quitting Smoking

RE: Quitting Smoking
Dang 3 - 4 packs a day and cold turkey? That's impressive!
Yeah we don't ever smoke around the baby. Only (used to) smoke on the way to work, lunch break, on the way home from work, and after our baby was asleep at night. (She sleeps at least 11 hours a night andwe have to wake her up in the morning. She was super ticked this morning that we woke her up haha. On the weekends, if we don't wake her, she will sleep around 13 hours before waking up on her own.)My wife works in a nursing home and many of her friends are nurses who smoke. So they always go outside to the smoking area to socialize. i think the most difficult part for my wife is all of them. They always ask her if she is coming outside with them. Several of them are also taking Chantix though. I am wondering though why they are still smoking like normal when they have been on Chantix longer than me......
You are right....it is merely a habit. I think the hardest part is the habit, not the nicotene. I just think I need to smoke every time I get in a car because I am so used to doing it. i also think I need to smoke after every meal because I am so used to it.But I think that part is getting better now. This morning on the way to work I didn't even think about smoking. I can't believe it!

RE: Quitting Smoking
I'm still cheating every now and then, but usually only 1 or 2 smokes a day. Before I decided to quit I smoked at least 15 a day (that would be considered a light smoking day.)On a normal dayI smoked at least a pack.
It's a bit tougher on the weekends since I don't have work to distract me. Plus if I go out, all of my friends smoke[:@]
It's working though. I have never gone this long on this few # of cigarettes. I don't even think about them anymore when I get in the car. Still the hardest part is after meals though. Any smoker knows what I am talking about there

RE: Quitting Smoking
Well, in NYC cigarettes are roughly $7. I haven't had a cigarette in 8 months and I quit cold turkey. I had quit or cut down on other occasions and this isn't the longest I've gone. But all it takes is 1 cigarette to mess everything up. I don't want to say you have...but you have! You were fine and you felt "just this weekend" and then it became "just 1 today" and now its "less than what it used to be" but those are just excuses. Addiction isn't easy. I went on vacation and told myself I would stop the cigs and pot and came back after 2 weeks. I was fine yet I told myself just one more blunt. Some find it harder to quit pot and some find it harder to quit cigs. I'm still smoking pot yet I'm off cigs. I think I need a vacation. lol Best of luck though!

RE: Quitting Smoking
I couldn't see quiting smoking pot, there is just too much in my house. Its also the only thing I have a passion for. I'm taking some botany classes in school just b/c of it. I'm also a self medicated insomniac lol. But I can't wait for the day I can get in my car and not crave a cigg.

RE: Quitting Smoking
I don't crave them in the car anymore thankfully.I had one last night though because my wife was about to light one up in front of me. I don't buy them though. if she wants to smoke she has to buy her own haha. i used to buy them for the both of us.

RE: Quitting Smoking
If you were outside, you should've swiped it out of her mouth and thrown it on the ground, then shred it with your foot. It would prove a point, make her think next time before lighting up in front of you and also, her face would be priceless!
