Default Reasons to not get an accord....

Hi all,

I'm deciding between a few cars here, and am looking for some feedback. There's a lot to like about Accords - but what might I not like?

A few things I'm considering:
- not much torque overall for a newer V6
- the "everyone has one" boring effect
- possible transmission problems? (what year was this resolved?)

Anything else I might not like if I decide on an accord? Post your gripes here!

FWIW, my last car was a Grand Prix GT (3.8L V6, 200hp/200ft-lb tq roughly). I found that car even with that much power to not have as much low end grunt as I'd like.

There are a few reasons:

* You may have to beat women off with a stick.
* May win a bunch of worthless trophies
* May get scammed while buying parts online

But seriously. Accords are great. Hondas are great. Are you planning on modifying or keeping it stock if you get an accord because there are ways to improve torque.

Well heres my thought! I was once a Honda Hater..But even owning a 1991 EX....I love it and im gonna stay with the Honda line .....My EX is 16yrs old and car has almost 300k, but newer motor and clutch..When this car Dies and i say 'When' it does, I will be out on a search for another Honda! But like all cars and trucks u will find a 'Bad' 1 no matter who Builds it..But the ppl i have known and the guys n gals on this Forum will tell ya Honda's are 1 of the Best out there..I see many Hondas WAY over 200k and More over 300k and they get good mpg which means alot these days with gas well over $3.00 a gallon..So go out and buy that Honda...

Just trannys. And a modified accord isn't as common as modified civics and integras so it's not too much of an "everyone has it" thing. Especially if you have a 6thgen sedan, it's a very good family car.

not sure where the torque comment comes from. the v6 in mine is quite torquey and a lot of fun to drive....this is coming from a recovering m3 owner.

tranny issues were in the 6th gen. resolved by 04.

x2 I came from a small V6 (Grand Prix, 3.1 Liter) and it was a pretty torquey little thing.. I could spin the tires off the launch and through some gears sometimes (I think the trans was slipping) and the Accord is a lot more sensitive and torquey than that was.

I might complain that I enjoy the heated seats too much. Well the windows make a funny cracking noise when rolling them down, but that's just my car I think. My headlights like to go dim then bright.. I think my bulbs are just loose or something.. things I forget to look at daily.

I don't mind that people have the accord around here... but not many have the V6.. a lot are the 4-bangers around here.

Was it definitely resolved in 04? I've been reading up and even though the generation changed in 03, they still definitely had the transmission issues. I absolutely don't want to deal with that.

What year was your Grand Prix? Just a little curious. Those are pretty good cars. Not as good as Accords, which are probably in the top 5 to 10 greatest cars of all time! You should test drive an Accord and make your decision. That's the only way you can find out for sure if you like the Accord or not.

The transmission issues were reportedly resolved in 04 as smaglik said. I have never heard of anyone with a 7th gen having any transmission issues.
If you want lots of torque, you need to buy a car with a V8.
