I agree completely. V6s will have more torque, but V8s are where the torque is maximized.

The transmission issues were reportedly resolved in 04 as smaglik said. I have never heard of anyone with a 7th gen having any transmission issues.
If you want lots of torque, you need to buy a car with a V8.
bmw is just about to release a nice new sports sedan with a v8 in it...could look into that...

If you're not concerned about re-sale value, reliability, or fuel economy but torque is the most important then why not buy a grand prix gtp or Bonneville GXP, both of those cars are little gas guzzling rockets.

What are the most important things you're looking for in a new car?

The biggest complaints have been squeaks, rattles, and auto transmissions (in '03 & some '04's). I know of zerocatastrophic engine or driveline failures, transmissions aside. Personally I have had no rattles or squeaks and drive a stick shift so I'm very pleased with my first Honda.

If you're used to a V-6 then you should look only at V-6 powered Accords. The four holer is quite peppy for it's size and none are smoother but you'll likely want more muscle.

Something else to consider is even when Honda screws up they go out of their way to correct the problem, extend warranties, even to the point of free repair OUT OF WARRANTY!! Try that at the GM dealer.

Also, due to the availability of parts most items I've had issues with were comprable to a domestic vehicle in terms of repair costs.

What year was your Grand Prix? Just a little curious.
1996-- favorite style year

yeah the domestics have a lot of negatives, but if I have money for a spare vehicle and don't care about any of those negatives, guess what I'm going to buy. Upkeep got too much on a eleven year old car, so had to move on.

i dont really get why people complain about torque all the time. Torque can be increased using smaller gears, horsepower is what counts. Its a combination between speed and torque, and measures the power going to the rear wheels, not just the torque.

torque is different and more important than horsepower in terms of racing. usually they have a positive relationship, but not always. torque is a rotational force. horsepower is a measure of power. two completely different things. and on our cars, it's the front wheels that get the power and torque, not the rear.

as for this ridiculous thread. who cares if you want an Accord or not? we arent here to convince you. either you want one or you dont. make the decision yourself. we obviously all have Accords and i feel no need to defend that.
