Default round abouts

So out of nowhere my city has decided to put round abouts, three to be exact...my impression is that when you come up to a round about, you yield....go in when it's clear, am I right?

I noticed i'll already be in the round about and a car will be coming (into the round about) and cut me off....this is wrong right? Shouldn't they yield to me since i'm already in the round about? I've had so many freaking close calls and see so many....and one is by a high school! That's gonna be great once school is in. =/

it depends on where you are and what signs they post. i have seen it go both ways, unfortunately. should have to yield to get in.

my town has been on a round about rampage as well, i dont think they are a great idea, except they are putting two in on the same road just at different intersections, so now we can just rip down, go around it and go back and forth lol

the 2 lane ones are the best cause all the idiots just go in the outside lane even if they are going all the way around so then you cant get out, that is what really pisses me off.

Haha!
I actually love the two roundabouts in my town. Once people figured out how they work, the traffic is about 10 times faster than when there were 4 way stops instead.
You should have to yield to get into the round about (at least the ones here are that way.) Are there "yield" signs at the 4 entrances to the round about? If you are on the round about, and someone comes into it in front of you and cuts you off, you have every right to lay on the horn and flip them off - they are an @$$hole. If they get mad at you and act like they want to fight, pull over and teabag them. Then be on your merry way.

Two lane round about. Try the 7 lane round about in Paris, right in front of the Eifel Tower. That was hectic!

We have two round abouts in my town too. Some people know how to drive it, others dont. They are pretty easy once you get used to them.

I guess we are trying to be more European, becuz they are very common over there. But somehow here they dont seem to be as effective.

The only sign is a sign that says....if you are in this lane u can exit round about here and there....or if you are in the other lane you can exit here and there. So no yield or stop or whatever. There use to be stop signs, from the previous 4 - way stop, but they took them down recently.

It's freaking frustrating to see people coming into the round about, don't even look to their left and just zoom into it. Ugh.

My sentiments exactly! The far right lane can exit on the right and then the one directly in front, but not the third exit (the left one). So i'll be in the far left just trying to exit on the exit directly in front of me and some punk will be in the right trying to exit on the third exit (left one) and cut me off and i go around again! A cop needs to sit by one of these and give some tickets out so people can learn how to use them.
