altho id like to trust that article it is from cnn, tho they have some good points i dunno, my friend says he gets better milage when he runs 93 gas compared to regular 87. id try it but i dont want to spend the exter money per gallon

 

I used to think along those same lines, but, then I did the math. Premium is typically $.20 more than regular. $.20 x 15 gallons = 3.00 extra. To me $3 is less than I would blow on something useless, and in that it takes me almost $50 to fill up, $3 isn't a big deal.

 

^^^ good point i think ill use prem from now on also i think i read that it gives you a 10 hp boost.

 

yeah, using premium should be no big deal now with gas prices being so high. plus, premium does have a different detergent additive package.

 

I've read many times that premium gas actually lowers the power output of my engine. Last week I filled up with premium and this morning I filled with regular. I think that the regular produces the same if not more power. I haven't dyno tested this, but others have and you can find the tests online.

 

Doesnt it require more gas to turn the car on, than to let it idle for a few minutes? thats what i always thought, i always leave my car on when i have to run in the house to grab something. (I live in a nice area now and no more parking on the street for me).

 

i just posted this in another thread before i saw this one, but i will say it again. ithas beenproven that having your A/C on full blast wastes less gas then having your windows rolled all the way down. i guess with the windows down, it changes the aerodynamics and makes the car work harder to go foward.

 

Yeah, premium gas can cause a decrease in mpg.

I will stick with leaving my windows open. Think about it, for all of the 4cyl owners out there:

When you are accelerating, turn on the A/C and you will feel your car bog down. Now, when you accelerate turn of the A/C and the car will speed up more quickly. Next, try it with putting the windows down. Did you feel any power loss or gains? Nope. Therefore, I always put the windows down. In my mind, if the car doesnt bog down, then it shouldnt be using as much power/fuel.
