in all honesty the only reason I think that so many americans watch the american football super bowl is because the commercials are so funny. In the states here when the super bowl (U.S. version of the world cup...) is on people pay literally millions for a 30 second commercial spot. These commercials are almost always brand new and a number of them are fricken hysterical so believe it or not even if people here don't like the sport we use it as an excuse to watch commercials and drink beer... *L*

I don't need an excuse but having one makes it easier for me to explain to my wife why I'm drunk.... *L*

I agree with you. Sport is for playing, not watching. You often see crowds of English football "supporters" - massive bellies and man-breasts bigger than a female **** star. Our pro-footballers are well over-paid and under-achieving yet the mugs [supporters] shell out a considerable slice of their income every week to watch these diving, cheating divies.
You saw the headlines I sent you. Didn't they make you feel angry.

You must understand......those mean nothing to the majority of us because we do not keep up or even acknowledge the sports you enjoy there, much the same as you do not acknowledge ours. I'm more at a loss than many since sports do not interest me very much if at all. I do like baseball since my Coventry Lass is totally absorbed in it. Other than that.......zero interest.

I hate sports... I rarely follow any teams. I won't turn down an offer to go to a game though.

I played s@**#r once or twice in highschool and got bored with it fast. Some 120 lb twit running circles around me, then crying like a baby when I "accidentally" kicked his foot off his ankle. Well, it didn't come off, but he cried like it did.

The point is, futbol is for little people, football is for larger people. Cows and Sheep not mixing kinda thing IMO.

In a rare concession, I will admit to enjoying rugby. All the fun of football without the pretenciousness of so**er. I guess the attraction to these sports for me is the "slaughter of the enemy" mindset.

academic-You remember the guy that head-butted the field official? I would break him like a twig, and I am/was "too small" to play football at university level. If guys like me (or 00lx5spd-since he's working out) played so**er we would terminate entire teams. Not fun for the fans or the guy writing the checks.
That said---GO PACK!!!!![sm=bounceybounce.gif]
