Should I buy this 2002 Accord?
It's a v6 fully loaded at $3900. The catch is it has 167000 miles and I dont know if the investment will be worth it. The car sounds flawless though, almost like a brand new car. Another problem is that a mechanic said the timing belt and water pumps are good to go and the car passed NYS inspection, but there's no record of the last time the water pump and belt was serviced. Should I buy this car? The engine sounds/looks great and the interior/exterior is perfect, but I don't know if this honda is worth the investment... any feedback would be much appreciated!

your lookin at 3 to 4 hours of labor for the water pump an timing belt idk what your labor rates are were your at. but i have an 02 coupe an that just rolled over to 150000 an still running strong. Did you ask how he knew they was good to go? check tranny fluid it needs to be a red color brown means it needs to b changed

A fully loaded 02 V6 for $3900 is a very good deal even with the miles being on the high side. Great car, reliable, get the belt and pump done and you'll be golden. They keep their value well. In fact you could probably flip that for a couple thousand more out here if it's really in good condition inside and out!

That is a very good price on a great car. If the only concern here is the timing belt and waterpump, they can be replaced for about $600 (non dealer shop). You could keep it for a couple of years and still get a good price for it.

Just about any car you buy used will cost you 600-1000$ per year in general maintenance and repairs. So as long as you know its out there, you can budget for it.
If you live in NY State just be ready to replace the brake and fuel lines at some time if they have not already been replaced. Mine corroded and leaked just a tiny amount of brake fluid, until they full on failed.
My brake caliper and bracket bolts were really corroded, which prevented me from doing the brake job in MY garage, I just could not get it apart. I needed to take it to the shop.
Thats the problem with cars that have been in the North East all their lives.
