Should I be worried about illegal aftermarket parts
Idk if it's true, but supposedly any non-OEM part you put on a car is illegal.
Now, I'm 17, an I don't have a license and won't get one until I turn 18. My car has not been inspected yet, and I've just been slowly buying and installing parts to it to make it a bit different.
The aftermarket parts that I've installed are:
Short air intake. Black bumper signals. Clear side markers.
Now, in the black bumper signals, I have yellow bulbs and in the clear side markers I have red bulbs. So Idk if it will matter in that case.
Should I put all OEM parts on for the inspection and swap them afterwards? Anyone else have any experience with getting a car inspected with aftermarket parts already on?

Aftermarket doesn't automatically make it illegal, it depends on what you're doing.
I don't know how hard-core WV is about lighting. Technically US DOT has rules about color & wattage & stuff, but many places the inspection is only concerned about tailpipe smog.

you should review your local laws so you know what you're breaking. we have rules on lighting and tinting that can result in your car being impounded.
only buy aftermarket lighting that is DOT approved. Those stamps actually mean something.
TYC supplied a certificate with my tail lights for DOT approval. Not sure if it holds up in court, but I keep it in the glove box.

I've decided to go ahead and remove the lenses before inspection just in case. Same for the intake.

You said they checked lighting in VA. Two things I forgot to mention: My trunk light is LED Blue. And the dome light is LED White. In my opinion, these shouldn't be a problem since my trunk wont be up while I'm driving. And the white LED dome light is white for a reason. In the event that a passenger turns it on to look for something, I don't get ticketed to impersonating an officer. Do you think I should change these for inspection or leave them be?
