Trying to sell my 2004 Honda Accord...Am I doing bad?
NO this is not me trying to sell my car on here(note to mods).
I have had my 2004 Honda Accord Ex-L for around 2 years. It has the 3.0 V6 motor in it.
It has 88,000 miles on it. Carmax offered me 6000 bucks for it. I thought that was low as the KBB value is like 9700 in fair condition. It at least qualifies at that haha
Well I have had my car listed for at least a week as 7000 bucks in the local craigslist and nobody wants the car. I am getting very few calls and nobody has came to look at it.
I paid 8600 bucks for it about two years ago. Should I cut my losses and take a 1300 dollar per year loss on my car or hold out for a sale? The carmax offer is good until this coming Thursday.
Do you think a 1300 dollar per year loss is acceptable for a used car? I just cant figure out why at 7000 dollars I am getting no calls when KBB says its worth 10 and carmax has theirs listed for 13-15k. My car is just like theirs.
It has some scratches on the paint, a clean and clear title and clean carfax report. The stock radio died but thats typical of these worthless radios Honda installed. I put in an aftermarket one in the cubby hole below the radio with an adapter thing.
I just feel pretty bad seeing how my car has seemed to have lost so much value in two years. I mean I thought Hondas held their value better than this.

$1300/yr is not bad. It's expensive to own a car. KBB values are always over the top IMO.
Check ebay sales (completed listings) for a better idea of market value. I took a quick peak and think you'll have to come down a bit to move. Ebay is a better avenue to move the car. Try a no-reserve sale starting a $6k. Anything over $6K is better than you're getting from carmax. But you have to share any sale w/ ebay so may need to bump that reserve price.
You bought retail and are selling wholesale.
W/ cost of gas, V6's may not move as well.
good luck

Well thank you for the advice
I sold it today for 6800 bucks. Thats actually 900 bucks a year. I lost 1800 bucks on the car not counting the 100 dollar radio. So $950 per year plus the car payment. Car payment was $146.10 a month.
I will miss it, they come get it tomorrow or the next day. Got a 500 dollar down payment. Since its the weekend and the banks are closed, his bank wouldnt let him draw out more than 2500 bucks through the ATM.
Now I am off to buy a Honda Civic SI.
