Hey all. I'm new to the forum and wasnt sure where to post this so I put it here...

I found a used 2008 Honda Accord EX-L at a private used car dealer that I am very interested in buying. The car is listed for $23,995. It is the standard EX-L model with only ~1,500 miles on it. It has a clean carfax history report (no accidents or floods), but it was reported as stolen once (a possible negotiation point?).

I went to edmunds.com to check their TMV prices...but they only had the 2008 model listed as a new car. Edmunds lists the car with a MSRP at $25,860 and an invoice price of $23,428 brand new.

How much could I expect to cut off the price? Is 4K-5K off the price expecting too much? I will be paying in cash, so that should lower the price a bit as well.

Any help that you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I think you could go as $20k max with the mileage and stolen issue. Bring cash with you, show them, if they don't take your offer walk out. In this economy, seeing that you have cash in hand should give you a good deal out the door.

 

find out what you can buy a brand new one for, and then knock a couple grand off of it. 21k would be a very good price, i would think.
