Hey Jkilla - I've been meaning to ask you something. Since you are an FDNY EMT, what do you think about the show Rescue Me? Like it? Hate it? Ever seen it before?I watch it all the time, and I have always wondered what REAL FDNY guys think of it.

Well..I thought the show had a lot of disconcerting situations that can make us firefighters look like bad guys in the public eye. Some of the things they did should not be shown on television, because thats not the way we work together. We are a team and treat each other as such. I watched the show with my fellow fighters in the station, and we all agreed that it had its good and bad parts, but all in all it should be a very moving series. Hopefully people will understand that 99.9999% of the American fire service isn't drinking our way to alarms, (or lighting fires, or insert any other bad thing here as portrayed in the media) but if they believe everything they see on TV, then they probably weren't very enlightened to begin with.

^ Yeah i kind of figured that. Many of the episodes I am like "There is NO WAY a real firefighter would do that!"
I just wondered what real FDNY guys thought about it - if they were offended by it, liked it, or were indifferent. Thanks for sharing!

LOL, my wife & kids HATE IT when I watch TV. I'm always picking out the stuff that not true, especially stuff that's JUST PLAIN STUPID...

Ijustabout freaked out with an episode of CSI where some kid put jet fuel in his car & it went racing out of control because the fuel was "SO POWERFUL". Jet fuel's about as close to kerosene as you can get. Try a tankful of kerosene & see how it works.

When I was in college, my senior design project was a control system for the JSF. We used kerosene in place of JP8. Jet fuel is just more refined.

When I was still a sophomore in hike school I challenged this dude to a 2-Liter Orange Soda chugging contest. Halfway through the bottle I burped (a hardcore one) and at the end of hte burp I threw up what I just drank haha. It caused the other soda chugger to throw up too, then someone watching threw up. Serious chain reaction.
