Default What papers do I need to sell my mom's Odyssey?

Mom is getting rid of our 2001 Honda Odyssey with 44,000. I got people coming to look this weekend. I have the price at 6,500 (not going lower than this) and maybe get more as I got some interest from the ad.

Anyway, I called this guy and he is saying if he likes it he will buy it on the spot so I want to know what papers I am going to need to have ready because I know he is going to like it.

Any help is appreciated.

I am in Yonkers, New York by the way. And if anyone here is in the area and wants to look, feel free.

You need to have the title in hand. Once he pays you, you sign the title over to him. That's it. It's more work for him...

People buying used cars always like service papers, you can miss a few oil changes in 40k miles.

My dad was religious with the oil changes, even getting them after only like 1500 miles if 3 months went by. We moved and the van has sat the last year with driving a few hundred miles and no oil change. getting it changed tomorrow.

I give them copies of the service or the originals? The originals have my payment info and stuff on them, should I get duplicates at the dealer?

You should only need to show him the oil change ones. I'd make copies of anything big like timing belts and stuff like that.

Just oil changes, should I include the scheduled maintenance receipts?

The only issue I'm worried about is that the gas gague broke a couple years ago and they fixed the problem in 2008 but when they did they reset the odometer. So now the odometer reads 1,000 miles but there is a sticker in the door that says the mileage when reset (43,000). I can understand someone thinking this is weird and not wanting to buy the car. So I am going to Honda on Friday to see if they can give me something official showing what they did.

You can see what I mean by going here: http://2001hondaodyssey.tk

I don't know how it normally is as I've never sold a car, but I wouldn't give them the service records, just show them what you have. Yeah and the oil change records are really the only important ones.
