I use whatever I have at the time... I found a whole bucket full of sockets, wrenches, ratchets, and pliers in the trunk of a car my dad bought at the car auction. I've been using those at my house when I wanna work on my cars.

Hey, So basically I was thinking of investing in a quality socket/wrench set. What do you guys use?
I get a huge discount on snap-on tools through my avitation mechanics courses... so the larger price isnt much of a concern.

What do yawl use?
How much is your discount?! If I were you I would buy a bunch and sell them on ebay. Earn you some gas money.

We have Craftsman and a few others. Most of my dads good tools are at Nestle where he works.

if you are a tech and do this professionally, you cannot afford to strip a bolt ,so you have to use the best available tools,, Snap-on, Matco, Mac ......If you work at a shop ,these guys come once a week with regularity ,,

if you are a hobby tech,
( DIY ) , Craftman is the best deal .. BUT , even using craftman,, do not use the socket chrome set, they strip and brake easy,, use instead the impact (BLACK) socket set, they last a long longer .. Also ,,when using tools , use the 6 points sockets or wrenches versus the 12 points ,, 6 points bites on the nuts and bolts a lot better, less chance of strippage .
.COULD SAVE A KNUCKLE OR TWO..

my snap-on deal is close to 50% i think, but even then, its more expensive than craftsman.
also the school pays like 30% of the discount, so i would feel guilty if i bought them and resold them.

Anyone ever tried "blue-point"? its made by snap-on, so i think i can still get a discount... and they have http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....&Item_id=78089 this for sale
