Aquarium just said it best... I'm def a domestic guy because of all the weird colours and huge useless spoilers etc... dont get me wrong I still respect the truly clean imports and yes they can get fast...

 

"Domestics" and V8's have been around far longer(50+yrs)and are therefore more common to the general public. Modding 4cyl imports has really only been around for about 20yrs.

 

by all means they usually say "hondas" and dont refer to accords.

 

Not to mention the "American" made vs. domestic aspect of things for some people... granted not a whole lot of "american" made cars are even made here in america anymore...

I'd have to say that civics get the worst of the Honda hate. Atleast where I'm from. Perhaps its cuz theyre cheaper, have lots of "cheap" mods available, and plenty of kids willing to put every cheap mod on(like the screw on hood scoop lol), without the money or skill to do it somewhat right. I'd also blame the makers and sellers of "cheap mods". Making s*#t that either doesnt work, or doesnt fit readily available. Oh well.

And as for "where its made", I do believe my Accord was assembled in the U.S. (except the stock tranny that apparently came from Japan). Not to mention being modified with some "made in the U.S." parts.
Dont have my helms manual here, but I think other 6th gens were maybe made in japan or canada as well as the U.S. depending on the year.

Personaly I say drive whatever wets ur whistle. And if u wanna look like a fool in what you drive, to each his own?

 

I agree, generally people don't make fun of Honda's intending Accords.. mostly Civics and Del Sols-- mostly because stock a Civic is pecker slow and I don't know much about Del Sols, I can only assume the same. Accord is the higher-end car of Honda and people don't do AS MUCH stupid crap to them as a Civic would get. I have never been called a ricer for driving a V6 Accord because it is stock and decently quick for what it is. The only objection to my car that I get is that it is "bland" which.. yeah okay some placesI could go for more style, but that I will futz with and do it cleanly. However if I had $2000 to buy a car and I was living on welfare and stupidly spending it.. I'd buy some scoops and hubcaps for my 92 Civic. JIMO there are those who do stupid things to these cars, but 90% don't even mess with it.

Ferinstance, there was a same year Accord, v6 Coupe.. Silver and tinted windows w/ blue headlights/foglights and rims.. it was clean and the guy driving obviously had an intake. It was sexy... but the guy that rode by me in a civic, with an aluminum spoiler, coffee can spurting out the back and burning oil all the way, I thought was an idiot. Fast and Furious has pushed a stereotype real hard and people are dumb enough to follow it.

But you guys gotta remember: the hate is mutual. Many import drivers hate domestics every bit as much if not more than domestic drivers hate imports. Kind of like the French. They hate everybody else in the world because they think they are better than them. Everyone else in the world hates the French because they stink,they don't use deoderant or shower, and they are weak pansiesthat will surrender at the first chance they get if they are threatened- stupid frogs.

 

I agree, i think accords show more maturity than a civic does, plus, i love the size, its perfectfor me.I would NEVER go back to a "compact" car. Its dumb when people hate on imports. My Accord was MADE IN MARYSVILLE OHIO, by AMERICAN workers!
