Just bought '87 Accord DX only 50K miles!!
This '87 Honda Accord DX (auto trans) has only had two owners previously: a little old lady had it for the first 18 years and then passed it on to her middle aged daughter (my neighbor) who has put on the last 28K miles in the past 4 years. This car has been well cared for and is in practically mint condition.
I already own an '02 Accord, which has 112K miles on it. My intention is to use the '87 occasionally to keep the miles on the '02 lower. I also plan to let my 19 y.o. daughter drive it occasionally (she'll be away at college most of the time).
One question I have about the '87: It doesn't have a right side rear view mirror. The previous owner says it never has had one. Is that possible? I checked images of other '87 Accords on Google and all the ones that showed the passenger side of the car, also showed a passenger side mirror. Any input on this?

passenger side mirror for '87 Accord
If I do decide to get a passenger side rear-view mirror added, my mechanic is really good at finding parts for old cars. The previous owner did put a mirror on the visor, which when you pull the visor down and position it, gives a nice view out the passenger side and rear of the car. So I'm thinking that I may not need to add that passenger side mirror. I just thought it was odd that it didn't come with one, but every image I found of '87 Accords included the passenger side mirror. Maybe in the DX it was optional and rare that new buyers didn't have it added.
I just drove the '87 about 200 miles and it is a smooth ride. I noticed though, using my GPS, that the speedometer shows the car going about 5-6 mph faster than it really is going. A friend told me this is common for Hondas. Is that true?
