Lookin to buy 00 Accord...need sum help
Hey guys, I currently own a 96 mercury cougar 4.6L V8, I'm tired of all the gas money thrown away so I started lookin at some hondas. I been lookin at mostly civics because they were more in my price range but its hard to find sh*t that hasn't been already modded. Until today I came across a 2000 Accord LX Coupe 5spd with the 2.3L VTEC with 75k miles for $3500. Is that a good price for the car? There was barely any wear in the interior, cold a/c, and the motor was clean..(clean oil, power steering fluid, air filter). Are there any common problems with these cars that I should look out for before buying? Also is there anything i should replace with this car at 75k miles, if it hasnt already been done so?
Your guys opinions would be great.

Price actually sounds pretty low to me. I usually see that price for older accords with 150K+ miles.
Car should be good until 100k miles then figure about $1,000 for a complete tune-up including timing belts. That's for a dealer to do the work, if you do it yourself it will be about half that. I could be wrong about that since Honda eventually switched to timing chains instead of belts and I don't know when that was.

6th gens have belts. great price .... I'd change the tranny fluid once if its already clean, pink and unburnt; 3 times if it is with 5 miles driven between changes.
Really, that car has no mechanical flaws.

Thanks for the help, I just got the accord home. The drive back from where I bought it was great. I think I got a pretty good deal for how nice the car looks and drives. I just graduated from an automotive tech school and can't wait to get my hands dirty with that F23A1. If anyone is interested in my 96 cougar let me know.

You got a STEAL of a deal on that car. It should have sold for around $7k to $8k. Are you sure there is nothing wrong with it? Does it have a Salvaged title or something?

Congrats on the coupe. If you need a carbon fiber trunk in satin silver let me know. I have one in great condition with a high gloss finish. It removes weight by 15 pounds and gives you're car a great look.
Let me know.
