Default Help needed purchasing Struts

I am thinking about replacing my 2000 accord LX V4 rear struts (or shock absorber?). I am considering Monroe Sensa-Trac struts (part no. 71299) for replacement along with the mount kit.

Is that a good brand? and the correct part? I went on honda's website and it says I have shock absorber not strut. The mechanic said its a strut. I will appreciate it some one can help me understand.

Also, I am considering getting my timing belt replaced. can anyone suggest a good timing belt kit and water pump?

I will really appreciate it.

Thank you

struts and shocks are the same thing..diffrent name for the same part.

uhm, are you looking for performance? or just a simple oem replacement setup?

Struts are only in front. For OEM replacement, Monroe's are pretty good.

I personally would never get Monroe, there are so many better manufacturers for a few extra dollars.

Falkore is correct, struts are only in front, but struts and shocks are pretty much interchangeable, I just call them dampers so I don't confuse people.

For the timing belt - Honda OEM is always the best bet there, as the timing belt is a crucial part of the engine. But, if you can't afford the OEM kit, Gates makes very good and reliable belts.

Also budget for an oil pump .... while doing a timing belt, it only makes sense. Also, Honda only for the timing belt. Gates are good as noted, but I'd only use OEM for a belt that goes for 100k miles.
