Mixing shocks..?

Say, for instance, I put two shocks of (a) kind in the front, and two shocks of (b) kind in the rear...Would this work?
just curious..

Shocks and struts are engineered to work best with there own make and model, there fore I will have to say no!

I figured that...I was just curious to see if I could go with really nice shocks in the front and decent ones in the back... oh well!

IMO it wouldn't necessarily not work. If you're replacing two worn dampers you'll be ahead almost no matter what you fit to replace them (so long as it's not Sensatracs, unless the current dampers are utterly shot). If you're upgrading to better dampers at only one axle line then I still don't think you're likely togo backwards, though the transient handling balance will probably change to some degree. Of course it's unlikely to work as well as having matched dampers all round.

If you're doing it as a cost spreading stepping stone to upgrading all the dampers in time then personally I'd do it. If you were intending to upgrade to something a bit special like Koni Sports ('yellow') then you could initiallyfit the Konis at a soft setting (to more or less match the existing other dampers) until you get around to fitting new dampers at the other end, after which you might want to stiffen up all round(?).

What are your opinoins on KYB GR-2 shocks? and, for instance, Eibach Pro-Kit springs??
I got those springs but no shocks yet! cant decide....

In what other way did you think changing only two dampers might 'not' work? It's the only consideration IMO, unless you're worried about ride quality. This is still a non issue though, if you change any dampers to stiffer units you would expect some increased harshness (ignoring the different kind of harshness you get from blown dampers).

I got those springs but no shocks yet! cant decide....
I have no experience of them (GR-2s), but I hear they are only a 'stock' replacement, but probably not as good quality as the original Honda fitment. If you have uprated rate springs then it would be very advisable to fit stiffer than stock dampers, especially if you're also lowering the ride height. Koni Sports would be ideal but more expensive, worth every cent of it though! KYB AGX dampers would be a better bet than GR-2 with stiffer springs, but they aren't Konis. If you fit cheaper dampers you will probably regret it, maybe not now but possibly in say 20,000+km or so. The Konis are top of the tree for readily available off the shelf dampers, only Bilsteins compare favourably. They'll outlast any of the cheaper alternatives, and perform better too (just IMO, some others may disagree, but many others will agree).
