supension goes threw the hood.
alright guys im new here and have a bit of a problem, my lady is driving a 91 honda accord wagon on air cylinders. i noticed the hood was lifted on the passenger side didn't think much about it. but yesterday she told that right tire wasn't lifting at all and it was shreading the tire. so i havn't seen how bad it is. but all i know is that the frame around the strut mount broke and now she has her car parked. i was wondering if this would be an easy fix, what kind of things might i need to do. or even if the car is salvageable.

RE: supension goes threw the hood.
back when i had my first accord (1983), this happened to me when i hit a pothole. The car had rust. When i hit a pothole, the stut tower gave busted through (pushing up on the hood luckly the hood on the 83 opened backwords.
Anyway, at the time, i found a replacement strut tower (not sure if it was used at a junk yard or a readily available replacement strut tower. I had a body shop weld it in. I later sealed everything with undercoating. It held up until the car finally died.

Perhaps I didn't read correctly but here is a possible take on the situation.
The strut and spring combo have a few pieces that need to go in the correct order. The most important is the use of the large washer. If this is not installed it will allow the shaft/rod of the strut to just rise up without anything stopping it. It will go so high as to hit the hood. I've seen this happen with a mitsu eclipse.
Good luck.
