2009 LX upgrade to alloys
I have a lot to learn quickly about the Accord, we're buying a 2009 LX this week, but I want factory look alloy wheels. I don't like a tuner or pimped up look. I don't value any of the other things in the LX-P package, for which closing prices are nearly $900 more than the LX, and our preferred colors are not on hand in the LX-P.
I don't see a glut of people selling the wheels off their new Accords to put on aftermarket stuff (as is the case in the offroad vehicle forums where I spend most of my time).
So what are my options, that will enable me to keep my factory tires?

Have you looked on craigslist? That's the first place to look for factory wheels that are barely used.
For the price, factor wheels are higher quality than any aftermarket of the same price. Why not get wheels added at the dealer? I've never bought a car brand new, but don't they usually give you the option of adding alloys for an extra cost?
Best place to start looking is tirerack.com.

These days they seem to wrap up highly desired features in packages. Want wheels? Gotta pay for a security system too. Want leather? Gotta get a sunroof. Want navigation? etc.
Looking at an online Honda parts source, buying OEM rims a la carte would cost more than I'm likely to have to pay for the next trim level. There are some replica wheels on ebay that seem a better option.
Seems the LX will come with tires for 16 inch rims, so I'd need the 16 inch LX-P alloys. I found some nice 18 inch EX rims 4 hours away on Craigslist, but that would mean I'd have to buy tires too.
The dealer's looking for a dealer exchange for an LX-P in our desired colors.

Yeah, I understand about the packages. But wheels are way easier to swap than leather or sunroofs.
Where are you? Snow??
Keep the stock steelies & put snow tires on them.
Get alloy rims for the summer tires.
How far away is the next dealer?
Some dealers might be more willing than others to swap wheels for you. That would avoid the need to go to the next trim level.
