97 Accord- Finding the right rims
#11
Right now I am running a set of Bridgestone tires in the stock size that I got from a junkyard for $100 for a set of 4 that still had the nubs on them when I bought them.
You are concerning yourself about the wrong thing. I have never ever heard of a passenger car blowing a tire because of improper tire weight rating. Unless you are towing or carrying unusual loads with your Honda you do not need to concern yourself with it.

How come you do not want the answer?
What answer do you want?
You give me the answer you want to hear and I will write it for you.
In the mean time here is the actual answer...
Your problem is this (and this is the answer, you do not need to look any further at all this is the answer)
You have offset issues on the wheels (they are too inboard or too outboard) and cause rubbing issues when you brake because they are rubbing somewhere. When you brake the front of your car dips down which puts the tires closer to the fender lips or inside wheelwells.
That was your answer, you do not need to explore weight capacities, rubber compounds, tread patterns or anything else.

Oh I see, well perhaps I now need an answer to what will I do?
I'm not too familiar with tires. If they're offset- which I'm assuming by the rubbing- too inboard then should I just have them remounted?

The offset is part of the wheel. The offset has nothing to do with the tires.
It is a measurement of how far the....here let me let someone else explain it to you.
Wheel Tech - Offset
You may need spacers to run the wheels you have.
You need to measure the offset and post it here so we can see if it fits correctly.

Hi. I don't have an answer for your questions, but I'm here because I'm in the same situation. I NEED AN ADVICE!!! I just purchased on line a package with wheels(17x7 4-100/114) and tires(235x40R-17) for my accord 97 lx 4drs 4cyl. According to the web site(discount tire direct) and the seller, this sizes would fit perfectly my car without adding or removing any part of the car. Is this true?

On your car, the recommended size to go with is going to be 215/40/17"...even if you were going to an 18" tire and wheel combo...I would only be selling you a 215/40/18" pkg for your car..and that is for a 1990 thru 1997 Accord..
