Good All-Season Tire Recommendation...
Hi Guys. I’m looking for some tires recommendations. I need 4 new tires for a 1998 Accord 4dr EX V6 size 205/65R15.
I believe that the original OEM recommend speed rating is V.
The local shop that has a sale this weekend offers only the following brands:
BFGoodrich
Cooper
General
Goodyear
Kumho
Uniroyal
I can basically order any tire model any of these brands offer. My driving style is normal and very average, mostly highways. I live in the upper Midwest and we can have long winters with a lot of snow and ice. I’d like to try to keep one year round set for the car for both summer and winter so what do you more experienced guys recommend for a good all-season tire? If I look at H and/or T speed ratings it really gives me much more to choose from than just the V rating options.
Thanks!

Well after all my research today these 3 keep coming up...
General Altimax HP
Michelin MXV4
BFGoodrich Advantage T/A
Does anybody have any personal experience with any of these that they could share?
Thanks!!

I have a 2005 Accord Coupe. 205/65/15
Original poster wanted speed rating 'V', my car is 'H' a tad lower speed rating, so the advice applies to 'H'
I am basically interested in high mileage replacement tires matching my speed rating of 'H'.

This is a must read above and know that all season tires usually have good handling and the highest mileage guarantees.
Going off price and quite a bit of research and across all websites for stores/chains in my area(LA/OC Southern Calif) , I have narrowed my choices to
AmericanTireDepot.com
$87/tire 94H BFGoodrich Advantage T/A
guar. 75,000 miles; 560AA ; $453 Out the Door w/ Taxes in my area
AmericanTireDepot.com
$105.95 BridgeStone Turanza Serenity 94H
guar. 70,000 miles; 740AA; $530 out the door with Taxes in my area
The two tires reviewed as basically equivalent but with the BFGoodrich Advantage being somewhat noisy as it weared/aged. But this problem was noted as 'tolerable' versus problematic. Might be going for the longer wearing, cheaper noisier ones!
How about the 560 versus the 740, those are tire wear/life ratings within tire lines(within a mfg) not across mfg's. If one mfg has a particularly soft low mileage base tire, then these numbers are affected by being inflated on the longer wearing tires.

I have Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred, 70K miles on them so far and 5/32 tread remaining. I've been very satisfied with them. Goodyear has a rebate deal going now, might be something to consider. When I replace the tires I will probably get the same.

I have Michelin Primacy MXV4s on my 07 SE and found them to be great all-season tires. However I live in the South and snow and ice are conditions I encounter only 1-2 x per year. With a user name like NorthCountry you might want to get a good tire for 3 seasons and then some dedicated winter tires! I had General Altimax HPs on my VW Passat (RIP) but can't say much about them as I had to sell it to my insurance co. after having 3 MVCs in 2009 and they said that they weren't going to repair it anymore. That's when I bought my Accord!
