max tire size
Hi...have an 08 exl, blk. traded in an 05 TL for it (accord is much cheaper). Still have the TL snows...steelies with 235-45-17. Tried them and they fit, no rub. Thing is, i like the way they fill in the fender better than the stock alloys. My steels say 17 x 6.5 on them. I assume the 6.5 refers to the rim width but a quick measure actually looks closer to 7.75 or 8. Myquestion in, i have read the max you can go to on the Accord is 245with no rub. Ideally i would like to keep the stock alloys, but add a more aggressive tires that fill in the fender well better. Can i put a 235-45-17 or 245-45-17 on the factory alloy rim and gain that? (supposedly 17 x7.5 butthey do not look at thick at all as my steeliessnows). As i remeneber, the '225' in the 225-50-17 stock tires mean 225 mm wide, so 235 is 10mm wider, or 1 cm and 245 would then be 2 cm wider in the well. Make sense?
