OEM rim size + tires that fit
Hi guys I'm a bit lazy to search around the car specs.
I have an 05 EX-V6 6sp and i will keep the OEM 17" rims on it.
I am due for new tires very soon and I am very concerned about the sizes. I know that the whole diameter is 25.5. What i would like to know is what tire width can i use on the stock rims and in the same time what is the rim's width? 7"?
I am also wondering what are the gives and takes of having larger tires.
Thank you
David

Rim width is very likely embossed into the rim SOMEWHERE. In between spokes? On the inside of a spoke?
Go to TireRack.com & look through the tire SPECS. For each tire size, they list the range of acceptable wheel width. That's ONE thing.
Then go through the motions of choosing a tire for you car. TireRack's site seems to have a pretty good database of what fits, for fender clearance & things like that.
Wider tires can improve cornering power, up to a point. If you keep going wider, it doesn't keep improving.
Wider tires are more expensive. Often the tires that are available in really wide sizes have a whole different character, sticky tires that wear out very quickly. That's not automatically because of the size, it's just one part of choosing a tire for YOUR needs.
