repair my tire or get 4 new tires?
i just discovered a nail in the rear right tire of my car today...
now im trying to decide if i should get new tires or just repair it, but the problem is that i dont want to repair if the cost is too much and if it wont last that long afterwards ( i dont really trust tire repairs)
and i need to get new tires smaller in width in order for me to lower my car too..
how much would the repair cost and how long would it last?
my tires have about 5,000 miles on them

Seriously....go to WalMart and buy a tire plugging kit. It costs less than $10. You can plug a nail hole super easily yourself. As long as it is not in the side wall of the tire. I have a plug in one of the rear tires on the '95 right now.

Nope. They hold up well. Once they have been in there a while they pretty much become part of the tire IMO. Some may tell you otherwise, but I have never had a plug blow out before. Getting a tire shop to do it would be a waste of money IMO.

Those tire plug kits that you buy at Wal-Mart are for a temp. patch only. If you live near a Discount Tire they will patch the tire up for free for you and it will be a lifetime patch. If you have it patched professionally it will last the lifetime of the tire. If you use a kit from Wal-mart it can bring moisture into to the steel belts of the tire and could cause them to rust out and cause the tire to seperate. Get it done right.

i took it to good year because i wanted professional work on it, they charged 25 bucks to repair, but when they pulled out the 2 nails, they said that it didnt penitrate the tire, so the labor was free.
