I also was wondering if steel rims are a little more absorbent as far as the impact goes? I know, neither aluminum nor steel rim should deflect too much, but they probably have a different rate of the shock transfer. Just gripping at straws here..

-ok, I think I found a decent combination. 14” (I think Eagle) rims @ Discount Tire $200 set on sale that they would not sell to me if I tell them I am installing it on 2000 Accord Ex, but would gladly do it for 2000 Accord DX, go figure. I am not positive but suspension is probably the same platform on those two vehicles. And they have a 40k 14” Kelly tire for that rim @ $41 a piece. I know nothing about the kellies but if they don’t work out I assume I can exchange them for something else within 30 days. Can I go with 205/70 r14 instead of 195/70 r14 as the application for DX calls? I am just hoping to get back some handling that I am going to loose with going to a taller sidewall. Thanks,

Can someone please tell me if this will work on my car? Either 215/70 R14 - 20mm wider then my current & .87” taller or 205/75 R14 - 10 mm wider then my current & 1.12” taller I will have to buy the rims and tires off the car & I will not be able to bring them back if it does not work out on my car because I’d have to lie to the Discount guys as far as what kind of car they are going on. Thanks!

It shouldn't matter if it were a DX or an EX, just go with the stock DX size tire.

Thanks,
but if I go with the stock DX tire which is 195/70 R14 (sidewall height 5.37" which is only .38" taller then my current tire) wouldn't it kinda defeat the purpose of me messing with this wheel/tire combinations in order to get a softer ride? Hey, I am not trying to be a PITA, I am PITA[X(] BTW, what is your opinion of Michelins Primacy MXV4, those are the tires I go from Costco and don’t feel any ride improvement.

I think you're kinda nuts for going through all this trouble in the first place. I have no opinion on those tires, why don't you check the reviews for it on TireRack.com.

“kinda nuts” in an understatement[sm=bustedsign.gif] Just ask my wife. I decided to listen to the voice of reason and got Kumhos 205/65r15 (it's a stock tire for V6) put them on my stock rims and voila, ride has improved dramatically and I don’t need to mess with anything else to save my back. I always knew Michelins as a good tread ware tire but on the harder side, this experience proved my previous assumptions. 40k Kumho ($59 apiece) rides much smoother then $102 Michelin.
