Default tyre recommendation?

Hello guys i've ordered 17" rims for my accord, and now i'm looking for the tyres.

the size is 225 50 R 17.

i was going for the original tyres, Michelin Pilot, but found out those are bloody expensive!!! 4 for $750??

so now i'm looking for cheaper tyre brands like Hankook, Nexen, Nitto, and Yokohama. i can't afford a tyre over $100 a piece...

would you guys recommend for me please?

plus i'd appreciate if anyone recommends a good tyre shop near Chicago IL.

Thanks and have a good day.

Back in 09 when I was thinking of getting rid of my 89 Accord, I did not want to spend much money on it so I bought four Nexen tires from Walmart. Except for an extremely slow week in one of them (looses 5 PSI every two months or so), they have been trouble free. I would buy another set in an instant.

Sure you live in Chicago and not the UK?

I personally like Yokohama.

Or Canada? Eh?
go to Tyre Rack.com err.... ah... I meant tirerack.com (a sponsor of this forum) and put this-225 50 R 17 under Size into their search engine and see what tyres-I mean tires! come up. After deleting Summer and Winter only tyres I came up with 74 different tires! Even if you don't end up buying tires from them they are a great tool for doing research on tires and give you an idea of costs of different tires that will fit your vehicle. In addition, there are surveys and reviews also which I also found to be very useful.

AWW come on. I've known guys who moved from UK to USA years ago and they still spell stuff like that. They still speak British, too.

I don't understand British as I only speak Amurrican. I was just joking about the tyre comment. I think it adds colour to the comments in the forum! LOL!
