upgrading to 17" issues?
Hey i just purchased an 06 Accord EX and it comes with 16" rims. When i enquired about the 17" rims, they said it was so expensive because the "car's sensors and such" were set to teh 16" specifications and moving to 17" is complicated. Does anyone know if there is any validity to this as i figured many ppl go to 17"? If so, if i do go to 17" how do i go about adjusting my car's settings accordingly or should i even do anything? Thanks.

**Here my fellow members is the Gospel Words about this subject..
The thing Phido723 is refering to is called TPMS..get used to seeing these letters because after August 31st, 2007 all New Model four wheeled vehicles weighing 10,000 or less MUST be equipped with Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems ( TPMS )....
This means that the aftermarket Tire & Wheel service sellers and installers must have the exact equipment to be able to do your Tire Pkgs that you are being sold.
The Acura/Honda systems are made by TRW and these are the only ones currently that will fit our type of cars.
You dont have a choice, by the way . If you plan to do new tires and wheels you must also plan to be charged for this new service..expensive? Yes!

Sweet...that means goin 17" would be easier [?] I've been interested in a 17" package and the tire size isn't much bigger, in fact, it's practically the same size (P215/50/R17)

I just bought an 06 Accord LX Coupe. Am I in the same boat? I believe mine are 15" w/ hubcaps, and honestly they look really ugly. I had planned to change the rims after I got the car, but now I hear this. [:@] How much am I looking at to actually be able to change to 17"?
BTW, how do we check how big the wheels are? My tires are 205/65/15, does the 15 indicate theyre 15"?
